Understanding Commercial-Grade Umbrellas
Regardless of whether you buy a residential or commercial umbrella from Revolvashade, our umbrellas are commercial grade. What does this mean? It means our frames, hardware, and fabrics are designed to withstand frequent use, sun, wind, and rain over many years. ‘Residential’ umbrellas are lighter, with thinner materials and simpler mechanisms, suitable for occasional backyard use. By contrast, commercial-grade construction ensures that even in a home setting, your umbrella is more durable, stable, and long-lasting.
Signature Range vs Designer Collection
Both the Signature Range and the Designer Collection use the same commercial-grade Deluxe frame (see Brochure link below). However, the Signature Range and Designer Collection offer two distinct canopy design approaches.
The Signature Range is a ‘design your own’ style, where customers can select their choice of standard canopy colours, five frame colours, and the option of valance or no valance, which is ideal for tailoring your umbrella to suit any setting. The Signature Range come in octagonal (3.2m, 3.6m, 4m, 4.5m and 5m) and square (3.2m and 3.6m)
The Designer Collection is a curated, retro-inspired design with set canopy and frame colours and a signature valance, offering a bold, on-trend look without the need for customisation. Umbrellas from our Designer collection come in octagonal (3.2m, 3.6m and 4m only)
Both the Signature Range and Designer Collection use the same Deluxe frame which has 360 degree rotation and single tilt functionality. Customers can select the double tilt function upgrade for the Signature Range only.
Commercial
The Commercial Cantilever umbrella is built specifically for heavier winds and is expected to remain open most of the time. It is the choice for restaurants, resorts, kindergartens, hotels, community and sports clubs, and Airbnb properties.
The Commercial Cantilever can be used in residential settings where the priorities are:
- *Higher wind-rating ( up to 100km/h)
- A preference to put up and leave up
- Choice of frame and canopy colours
- Fire retardant Mehler’s FR580 is recommended for longevity
- Can rotate 360 degrees
- Octagonal shape (3.2m, 3.6m, 4m) or square (3.2m, 3.6m)

It does not take into account wear and tear of regular use or environmental factors such as elevation and local landscape. It does not indicate the strength of gusts the umbrella can handle. We recommend closing the commercial cantilever umbrella ahead of high winds and cyclones.
